“We’ve got to concentrate and do what we can do best”

After returning from injury to play in fixtures against AFC Wimbledon and Bradford City, Fulham loanee Harvey Araujo spoke exclusively to 1866+ about his time at the club so far.

Beginning with the Easter weekend fixtures, the young defender said: “It’s been a long time coming, four months, and I’m just happy just to be back to help the team out.

“It’s been long, but I feel like there’s some pros and some cons to it. Just getting my strength back was a big thing because I lost a lot of weight and muscle from the challenge and the impact from it.

“Obviously the two games have been a big test for me because I haven’t played for a while, but I feel like I’ve done alright in the games. So, yes, hopefully I can play many more games before the end of the season.

“Going into the matches, the gaffer told me to be calm and go into those games and just play how I normally play.”

Speaking about the atmosphere at both matches, he said: “They are the games that you’ll think about and remember as a young player like myself. I feel like the fans this season have been really supportive, even through the ups and downs, even through the injuries that we’ve had.

“It’s just good to have that backing, it just gives us more energy on the pitch to do as well as we can.”

He expressed his confidence ahead of the final two fixtures against Morecambe and Accrington, saying: “I think we can (get six points). As a team, it feels like we’ve got more players now than we’ve had during this whole season!

“We’ve got a lot of quality in the team and a lot of experience as well. We can say they’re easy games, but you never know because they still might be scrapping to make it as hard as possible.

“We’ve got to concentrate and do what we can do best.”

Harvey spoke further on his recovery from injury and his time at the club so far under Paul Cook, and you can hear the full interview in the build-up to tomorrow’s match live on 1866 Sport. Pre-match and post-match content is free to listen to.
