Refurbishment of the hospitality lounges at the SMH Group Stadium began earlier this week, with lots of upgrades planned for completion over the next few weeks in preparation for the 2025/26 Sky Bet League Two campaign that begins on the first weekend of August.
Marcus Leverton of Leverton UK Ltd, who is overseeing the work, spoke about the upgrades: “I’ve worked incredibly closely with the owners and the team on site and we’ve put together a new design for the main executive lounge, and we’re doing four of the toilet blocks as well.
“It will be very modern, very contemporary and I think people are going to be very surprised when they come in.
“There’ll be a new lighting scheme, new ceilings, new carpet decoration, we’re refurbishing the bar and as I say, the four of the toilet blocks. They’ll all be totally new and they’re going look incredible.”
Praising the senior figures at the club for their efforts in planning the work, Marcus added: “It’s always good when you work with people who’ve got a vision of what they already want, so we initially started talking and they gave me a detailed plan of what they wanted.
“This is phase one of many phases, hopefully it’s going to progress over the coming months and years. They knew what they wanted so it was very easy to work with them.”
As a Spireite himself, Marcus affirmed the importance of the work, saying: “We’re in this to try and help the club, so we’ve worked closely with them. Can you imagine what it’s going to be like when it’s all refurbished and you’re watching the guys stick three or four in on a Saturday? It’s going to be amazing!”
